Virginia
Eye Specialists, PC was founded in 2002 by Pranay Gupta, MD. This full-service ophthalmology practice was
initially established in Colonial Heights, VA.
Since 2005, the practice has grown to include a satellite office in
Lawrenceville, VA, further expanding its services to Southern Virginia.Dr.
Gupta graduated with high honors from The Johns Hopkins University and attended
the University of Maryland Medical School and Residency programs. After
graduation from Residency, he was awarded a Fellowship to study Corneal and
Refractive Surgery at the Medical College of Virginia (MCV). Dr. Gupta has participated in special
research projects on the treatments of laser vision complications and corneal
disease. He has published several papers on the role of pentoxyphylline
and troxerutin in retinal disease therapy.

Dr. Gupta is a Diplomate with the American Board of Ophthalmology, and is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) and Virginia Society of Ophthalmology. In 2007, Dr. Gupta was named one of “America’s Top Ophthalmologists” in Cataract & Refractive Surgery by the Consumers’ Research Council of America.
